Safety, dismantling and references

Your safety matters more than any deadline. This page is a short reminder; the detailed guidance is in CO-160 (A/V guidelines) Chapter 6, A-149 (A/V setup safety) and your team's DC-83 (job hazard analysis) draft.

Before and during installation

  • Friday 16:30 briefing (Trucking Department, tentative). Saturday 08:00 safety talk and prayer (JP Bourgeois). Keymen then review the task hazards and PPE with their crews.
  • Please know where the nearest exits are, and keep exits and walkways clear.
  • Ask for helpers with any load over 20 kg or any bulky case, and roll wheeled cases (weights are on the equipment page). Gloves and work shoes, please. Hard hats are required for raised speaker work.
  • Close the latches before moving a case, and keep equipment in its case until installation.
  • Only qualified volunteers do electrical work that needs a qualification. Inspect cords and cover crossings.
  • Tripods are level, locked and sandbagged. Connect cables before raising a speaker, and keep others clear. If a speaker hangs over a walkway, keep at least 2.1 m clear underneath or put up a barrier. Use barriers or signs when needed.
  • Please report any incident or near miss to your overseer straight away.
  • If something looks unsafe, please stop and tell your keyman. Safety always comes before the 12:00 target.

Sunday dismantling

  1. We note the actual program end. 30 minutes later: egress and packing safety meeting with prayer, led by A/V (leader to be confirmed). Let the audience leave first.
  2. Each setup team dismantles its own area with its keyman. Packing team members go straight to the packing area. If a keyman is on the packing team, his overseer names a stand-in.
  3. Switch off power before disconnecting. Lower speakers with enough helpers and hard hats. Remove stands, microphones and cable covers without leaving trip hazards. The A/V Booth team returns the venue wireless microphones to venue staff.
  4. Bring everything to the packing area. The packing team receives it, checks it against the October BOM and boxes it. Each item goes back in the box it came in; cables carry a colour tag matching their box. Every part is accounted for before a case goes to Trucking.
  5. If anything is damaged, please photograph it and report it to LBD: LBD office 02-821-6620, [email protected] (broadcasting contact: William Neessen). Latch every case, and strap wheeled cases in the truck rather than relying on locking wheels.
